It is possible to host your Articulate 360 license on a server located within the European Union (EU). This offers an additional option for organizations that want to keep their data within the EU. You can switch to the EU server at your next renewal. Read below to learn how to make this transition smoothly and what to keep in mind.
Switching to the EU Server
Articulate content data centers are strictly separated. This means that existing Rise 360 modules on the US server cannot automatically be transferred to the EU server. As such, switching requires a careful approach. Below you’ll find our tips and step-by-step guide.
1. Determine which modules you want to take with you
Not all modules need to be moved. Modules that have already been published and no longer need to be edited can remain where they are. Previously published SCORM modules will continue to work, regardless of the server location.
Tip: Make an inventory of all your modules and decide which ones need to remain actively editable.
2. Back up your modules
It’s always a good idea to create a backup. You can do this in the following ways:
- Publish as Web format: By publishing the Rise module as a web version, all assets (images, audio, and videos) are saved separately. This makes it easier to rebuild the module on the EU server. You’ll find the files in the “assets” folder.
- Download as PDF: A PDF export allows you to easily review the content of the Rise module and reuse it for the EU server.
3. Rebuild the necessary modules
Modules you want to continue editing must be manually rebuilt in your EU license environment. Use the backups created in step 2 for this.
Tip: Use this transition as an opportunity to optimize your modules. This can be done easily with the help of the Articulate AI Assistant.
