Articulate 360 data can be hosted in one of two locations: the United States (US) or the European Union (EU). These environments are strictly separated from each other.
This article answers some frequently asked questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which hosting location I’m using?
EU-license hosting: The URL in your browser’s address bar contains “eu.”
For Example: https://[app].eu.articulate.comUS-license hosting: The URL in your browser’s address bar does not contain “eu.”
For Example: https://[app].articulate.com
Are there any differences in functionality between US and EU hosting?
No, all Articulate 360 features are available regardless of the chosen hosting location.
How does collaboration with external developers work?
If you hire an external party to develop content for you, or if you develop content for others, ensure that all involved parties use the same hosting location. The EU and US environments in Articulate are strictly separated. Content stored on a US server is inaccessible from an EU server and vice versa. Content also cannot be transferred from one server to another.
Tip: Add an extra seat and assign them to the external developer. This way, your organization always retains ownership of the developed content.
Can I switch to another server?
It is possible to switch to a different hosting location at your renewal date. However, keep in mind that existing content cannot be transferred to the new location due to the strict separation of data centers.
What happens to content created during the trial period?
Content created during your trial period is already stored in either the EU or the US, depending on your selection when requesting the trial. If you choose the same server when purchasing, you can continue working on your existing content. If you switch servers, please note that you will need to recreate your content.
